Design
Services
In partnership with our sister company,
Cornerstone Research Group Inc.
(CRG), we are able to offer complete
design services to our customers.
These services include CAD modeling
and finite element analysis (FEA)
stress analysis on parts varying
in size from small remotely operated
vehicle (ROV) components to buoyancy
modules for the oil industry. Large
system designs include analysis
of attachment points, connections
systems, and/or strapping to validate
the performance of the entire system.
CRG uses ALGOR®
and Abaqus® finite element modeling
software to model and analyze composites,
structures, and mechanical assemblies
and to optimize their design. This
finite element modeling package
enables CRG to perform a broad array
of analyses including linear and
nonlinear stress, multiple-body
contact, and interactions (mass,
center of gravity, and mass moment
of inertia) vibration, linear, and
nonlinear heat transfer (steady-state
or transient), and fluid flow (steady
and unsteady).

ALGOR analysis
ALGOR and ABAQUS
also provide CRG the capability
to couple multiple analysis types.
When heat transfer is coupled with
stress analysis, they determine
the effects of temperature on mechanical
models composed of isotropic or
orthotropic materials. When coupled
with electrostatic analysis, the
effects of Joule heating are determined.
When coupled with fluid flow analysis,
the effects of natural and forced
convection are shown. When fluid
flow is coupled with stress analysis,
they determine the effect of stresses
generated by fluid flows on applications
such as containment vessels and
interior constrictions.
This software
is also capable of determining the
buoyancy loss associated with a
specific Advantic component or system
as a result of water ingress, creep,
elastic deformation, and temperature
variation. CRG uses CATIA® drafting
software to aid in modeling and
design of parts and assemblies.
